Thailand: very, very Slow to form a trunk( in habitat mature trunks can get to15feet) this truly magnificent extremely tropical appearing palm with circular leaves 6 to 8 feet wide with the underside of the leaf so gorgeous its not to be believed  supported on black petioles which form a leaf crown 10 to 12 feet wide is surprisingly  cold hardy to zone 9b. It is ideally suited for patio or courtyard and a simply gorgeous accent piece for the filtered light or shady part of the garden.
