Endemic to Vanuatu and thought to be extinct until 1987. the beautifully arching leaves are 12 feet long on trunks that reach nearly 90 feet in habitat . Thrives when young in partial shade or sun and according to some palm scholars  has one of the most beautiful forms in the palm family with its alluring silhouette  of arched, nearly recurving leaves
