A rather thin palm for its eventual height in habitat where it grows to 50 feet with a trunk diameter of less than12 inches. It is moderately cold tolerant able to survive zone 10a  though it needs to be protected from cool dry winds in fact it should be protected from any strong winds. It demands well drained soil and partial shade or filtered light but as it gets older can eventually take full sun. Soil type doen’t appear to be too important.
